Housing: check! Classmates: check! Visa: working on it...

If anyone has every traveled for more than 6 months to the U.K. (or elsewhere in the world) they may know what a royal pain applying for a Visa truly can be. Not that I wasn't warned—the school sent many pdfs and emails breaking down the process in as many ways as possible, reminding us to prepare as much as we could ahead of time, and never ceasing to mention that they cannot get involved in our application process no matter what—we are on our own, it is very important that we understand exactly what will be required of us, and... they wish us luck!

Well, no kidding, it's a doozy. I've spent four days now just trying to gather the information to complete the initial application form. But little by little things are coming together. And while patience may not be my middle name, this endeavor is certainly a lesson in it.

What has been accomplished these past two weeks is far more exciting, in my opinion. On Wednesday last I met two of my 11-13 colleagues in mid-town Manhattan for brunch. In case you missed the crowdfund update, meet Alice & Sasha:

I also saw the Sam Gold's BRILLIANT take on Hamlet at The Public Theatre. The four-hour long production starred Oscar Isaac, who was nothing short of genius, but was sustained and supported by the most wonderful cast of actors around him, including (you guessed it) a Bristol Old Vic Theatre School alum as Laertes, Anatol Yusef:

Earlier this week I bought a plane ticket (I'll be flying out on September 17th). My crowd fund keeps plugging along— as of today (three weeks) I'm at $5,681 just $319 away from 40% funded! If you want to help me get there by the end of week 4 click here to donate & share:

And today I put down a deposit on the gorgeous, peaceful little room I'll be living in for the next year!

My accommodation is a stunning townhouse, just a stone's throw from the school, owned by a local actor who prefers to let his rooms to the Masters students at BOVTS. This means that most likely I'll be rooming with 5 or 6 of my classmates. Each floor has it's own bedroom, bathroom, and washing machine to accompany the two or three bedrooms. And the top floor has a beautiful common room with a special little rooftop space for the tenants to take in the beautiful city of Bristol!

I'm so relieved to have found this lovely sanctuary for my intensive year of study. One big item on my checklist checked!
