Gail's first introduction to puppets as a most powerful storytelling tool was in Outcast Cafe's "The Dick & The Rose" with which she toured to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2011 and the New York Fringe Festival in 2012. Her work in the show featured in the award-winning Documentary One Year's Crop.
In 2015, Gail performed as both a puppeteer and actor in the award-winning short Coyote Girl (Outcast Cafe). She also built & designed the puppets for this film.
She has trained with Tom Lee (Warhorse, Disarmer) and has since worked as a puppeteer for Chan Thou's Tuktuk ( HiveMind, St.Ann's Warehouse), performed a sock puppet adaptation of scenes from Othello (Boston University, Outcast Cafe), helped design and consult on puppetry for The Winter's Tale (Maiden Phoenix Theatre Co.), The Pillowman (in development), and built several puppets for Outcast Cafe as they continue to workshop Riley Ann's Visit and more.
Gail Shalan is a professional story-teller who loves narrating audiobooks from wherever in the world she may be.
She has recorded over 20 titles; working with Blackstone Audio, Audible.com's Audiobook Creation Exchange, Berkshire Media Audio, and others.
In 2015, Gail was selected as one of Audible’s ACX University Up-and-Coming Narrators.
She's proud to be a narrator on the Grammy-winning Deyan Audio roster, and is represented by Sandra Bishop at Transatlantic Agency.
